Workshops

What type of workshops do I conduct?

I put on general writing workshops as well as more specialized/thematic ones. Writing workshops for students are usually one hour in length, with class size limited to fifteen. Workshops for teachers, principals and others may run one to four hours. No limit on class size.

Writing workshops

Students develop characters, work on dialogue, learn to use metaphors, similes and critique one another’s work.

Specialized workshops:

  • Using novels to address everyday problems
  • Self Esteem
  • Bullying
  • Violence
  • Getting reluctant readers reading
  • Fueling parent hopes and student dreams
  • Boys and reading
  • Using urban stories to fuel student reading and achievement (regardless of the ethnic or economic background of your students)

*Several of the workshops might revolve around my work in part.
